Scout Cragg rock fall mitigation

Bell Access & Engineering Ltd worked closely with Coffey Geotechnics Ltd to provide a solution for stabilisation works in a former quarry now used as a holiday park.

Following Coffey Geotechnic’s design, the project began with a 17,000m² scale and vegetation removal of the crag face, removing approximately 250 tons of debris. A combination of passive rock fall netting, rock dowels and multiple Geobrugg GBE 100A-R rockfall protection barriers have been installed to provide the best protection with the least visual impact.

The Bell Access IRATA trained rope access team worked at heights of to 50m to carry out the works.

190m of Geobrugg GBE100A-R protection barrier was installed on the crag face, and a further 21m installed vertically above a retaining wall in the first two phases of the project.
